Why did God choose to fulfill the promises to Abraham through one grandson (Jacob) in preference to the other (Esau)? Being twins, we’d expect “sameness!” Since Esau was the firstborn, based on the culture of the day, he would seem to have been the “front-runner” for the blessing path. But God chose Jacob! Why? The answer has everything to do with John 6:44 and the calling God will give to all who have ever lived—but by His choice and in His time. Why must most humans wait for that opportunity? Why are some few chosen now?
